However, she was arrested by the Sovereign. Whether it was to get revenge on her sister and father, or so she could make a quick buck with how much the batteries are worth is unknown. However, it is unknown why she needed the batteries. Nebula, after flying solo attempted to steal the Sovereign People's Anulax batteries. Though angered, Gamora replied it took Nebula too long to kill her victims before going onto the ship to Xandar. She also pointed out that she heard the galaxy could hear victims scream to prove one point: she was a better killer than Gamora. Both attempted to break each other's fingers, while Nebula accused Gamora of attempting to become Ronan's new favorite. This had made Nebula upset that Gamora was going in her stead and angrily confront her sister. The Zehoberei instead offered to go to Xandar in order and steal the orb from this so called "Star-Lord," knowing that if Nebula failed, they would face their father with a very dreadful punishment. However, her sister, Gamora, had plans of her own. At first, Nebula was tasked to go to Xandar and retrieve the Orb from Quill. In 2014, an outlaw known as Star-Lord stole the orb that contained an Infinity Stone. Her cybernetics, whilst given to her as a punishment, have proved to be an advantage: she can fix her body if she is injured using her cybernetics, as shown when Drax blasted her with the Hadron Enforcer, which was capable of destroying entire moons, and she plummeted an undisclosed amount of feet and rose to fight and nearly overpower Gamora moments after she landed. Following her help in Taserface's takeover of the Ravagers, Nebula changes her costume to a red leather one similar to that worn by the said gang. Her gloves, belt, and boots are all black and appear to be made of plastic. She is clad in a black-and-purple jumpsuit that allows her complete freedom of movement while still keeping her completely modest. She has a robotic prosthetic arm and metallic implants around her left eye. She is also bald (whether this is natural for Luphomoids, or the result of her cybernetic implants, is unclear). Nebula is a tall, slender, athletic, curvy, and beautiful blue-skinned humanoid cyborg woman with an oval head and black eyes. Her exploits after the Battle of Xandar have been a journey of renewal for her as she begins to determine her own ideas of good and evil. Prior to the Infinity War, Nebula appeared to be very disloyal, as she ultimately betrays everyone and works for her own ends. For instance, she deserted Ronan when he was (currently) her only hope against Thanos, and she damaged her own ship attempting to shoot down Gamora. Nebula is intelligent, but she appears not to be very good at creating strategies. However, she has become more mellow and heroic in recent years, showing a selfless and heroic side as she willingly participates in the Infinity War. Despite turning against Thanos, she was still a criminal whose primary focus was what supported her in the moment (not unlike Loki). Nebula appears to be the photo-negative of her sister: cruel, evil, and considered by men as strong as the Ravagers as the galaxy's biggest sadist. In Guardians of the Galaxy Prelude, it is revealed that Nebula had several other machinery added to her in order for her to survive. However, she never would become Gamora's equal. Every time Gamora succeeded and Nebula failed, she would be "upgraded" to become Gamora's equal.
During these battles, Gamora won at everything, never "once refraining". As children, Thanos had Nebula and Gamora fight one another. At a young age, Nebula's parents were killed by Thanos, who stole their child so she would become his personal assassin.Īs a child, Nebula saw her sister, Gamora as the only thing she had close to family.
